Suspected Ritualist Caught With Human Skull

Abdulrahman Woru, 38, suspected of participating in rituals, was detained by members of the Niger State Police Command on January 24 in Babana, Borgu Local Government Area, for allegedly possessing a human skull.

The state police command’s spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed in a statement that the suspect, who lives in Babana, is from the village of Gbesewona in the Benin Republic.

According to Abiodun: “When a search was conducted in his house a human skull, three pieces of suspected human ribs, two idols and a cash sum of 5000 CFA of Benin Rep currency were recovered. During interrogation, he confessed that the human skull recovered belonged to him. He claimed that he migrated from Benin Rep to Nigeria about four years ago for his business, without any immigration document, and that he is a traditional medicine practitioner.”

The police spokesman also stated that the suspect recently travelled to Benin Republic and that while entering Nigeria, he noticed a sack on the road with a skull inside.

“He (suspect) said he tied it on his motorcycle and took it home, because he believed it will be useful for his work, and he did not report it to the Police. The Command appreciates the support of Nigerlites and members of the public, and urges them not to relent by informing the police when they see something strange in their environment for quick intervention,” the statement read.

Abiodun noted that the suspect will shortly be charged after being arraigned before a court with jurisdiction over the case.

There are so many cases of money rituals in the country.

People are being caught with human parts on daily basis, with several cases of missing people, who were later discovered dead with some of their body parts, most especially private parts missing.

With this in mind, let’s be careful with our movement and be very aware and alert of the activities happening around us.
