Sword Swallower Admitted At Hospital After Suffering Multiple Cuts On His Inside (Photos)

A renowned sword swallower, Scott Nelson was admitted to the hospital after reportedly suffering terrible injuries in his abdomen and liver during practice.

On October 31, emergency personnel were dispatched to the Six Flags of America theme park in Woodmore, Maryland, to help Nelson even though it is claimed that he didn’t get hurt while performing.

According to Josh Bowren, executive producer for Aaron Radatz Productions, the organisation that runs the program, Nelson featured in, “It wasn’t an accident during the show, but rather other unrelated health issues.”

Nelson, 59, claimed that he was taken to a close-by hospital in Washington, DC after five swords had apparently scissored out of his stomach during practice.

The performer, well known as Murrugun The Mystic, suffered injuries that resulted in the removal of a portion of his lung, with doctors initially believing he wouldn’t survive.

He is, however, recovering from the incident.

A GoFundMe petition created to raise money for Nelson reads: “A San Diego staple, Scott Nelson, known popularly as Murrugun The Mystic (a sword swallower, actor, busker, all-around entertainer), is in need of our help.

“He’s been in the hospital in DC for over a month unable to eat solid food.

“They had to remove most of one of his lungs and initially the doctors did not think he was going to make it.

“He hasn’t been able to eat for a month, he’ll be in the DC hospital for at least another week, and he obviously hasn’t been able to work and will not be able to work for some time.”

According to reports, Nelson told the fundraising page creator: “Five swords scissored out in my abdominal cavity.

“It also appears that I pierced the lobe of my liver.

“Good news is, I’ve quit smoking and lost over 50 lbs.”

His injuries, which included numerous visible cuts and stitches on his body, were captured in photos shared on social media.
