Tems Beats Burna Boy, Davido, Chris Brown, Others To Grammy Award

Temilade Openiyi, a Nigerian singer better known by her stage name Tems, has won the 67th Grammy Awards’ Best African Music Performance category.

Her song “Love Me JeJe” won her the title, defeating Burna Boy’s “Higher,” Asake’s “MMS” starring Wizkid, Chris Brown’s “Sensational” featuring Davido and Lojay, and Yemi Alade’s “Tomorrow.”

This is Tems’ second Grammy victory. Tyla of South Africa took up the prize for her 2024 hit song, “Water,” in the inaugural edition of the category.

Tems has eight nominations in her career, including three at this year’s Grammys.

Her nominations for Best R&B Song (Burning) and Best Global Music Album (Born in the Wild) were also made.
