Tenant Murdered Over House Rent By Landlord’s Son in Ondo

Samuel Omojola, the son of a landlord, was detained in Akure, the state capital, by police detectives from the Ondo command in connection with the death of a tenant.

During an altercation over the payment of housing rent in the Oke-Jebu area of Akure metropolis, the victim, named Kehinde, was struck in the head with a plank by the accused, according to police.

During a quarrel with the landlord, the dead were allegedly whacked in the head with a plank by his son, who was protecting his father.

An eyewitness stated that the dead’s landlord claimed that the deceased had a habit of criticizing him whenever he requested that the deceased pay his housing rent.

However, according to the eyewitness, an argument erupted between the two on the subject, which escalated into a heated exchange between the two.

As stated by the witness, “the insult however did not go down well with the landlord on this particular day as he put a call across to one of his sons who immediately arrived at the scene.

“But instead of inquiring about what transpired between his father and the deceased, the suspect just took a plank and hit the tenant on the head.

“The tenant fell on the floor and was bleeding profusely. Their neighbors quickly rushed him to the hospital where he was admitted and died two days after.”

According to Vanguard, as soon as word of the victim’s death reached the town, some of his family members and friends rushed to the landlord’s house and attempted to set it on fire, according to witnesses.

Fortunately, the prompt intervention of homicide detectives from the Ijapo police station in Ondo state prevented them from demolishing the structure.

According to reports, the DPO at the Ijapo Police Station dispatched a team of investigators to the scene of the incident, where they caught the suspect and took him into custody.

According to a senior police officer, officers supported the worried neighbors in rushing the man to the hospital, but he died as a result of his injuries.

According to the police officer, the matter would be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department SCIID, for further investigation and prosecution.
