Tension In Nasarawa As Gunmen Abduct Newborn From Teenage Mother Near Abuja

Suspected gunmen abduct newborn from 19-year-old mother in Nasarawa community near Abuja, triggering fear among residents.

Suspected gunmen have abducted a newborn baby from a 19-year-old mother in Maraban Gurku area of Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, near Abuja.

The incident, which occurred in Kidnawi 2 community, has heightened tension among residents, as the attackers reportedly struck late Saturday night.

The mother, identified as Aisha, said the assailants forced their way into her room around 11:00 p.m. while she was asleep with her baby.

According to her, one of the attackers restrained her while the other took the newborn and fled the scene.

She said she struggled to raise an alarm but could not get immediate assistance, noting that her husband was away in Lagos at the time of the incident.

The community leader, Chief Abubakar Yusuf Mai Anguwa Baƙo, confirmed the abduction and said the matter had been reported to the police.

Security operatives have since launched efforts to track down the suspects, although no breakthrough has been recorded.

A neighbour also confirmed that residents only became aware of the incident after the attackers had fled.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Rahman Nansel, said he had yet to be briefed on the matter and advised verification of whether the incident had been officially reported.

Authorities have urged members of the public with relevant information to assist in locating the abducted child and apprehending those responsible.
