The Lord’s Healing

Monday Perspective

The Lord’s Healing

Luke 8:26-39 tells the story of Jesus and a distressed man. Jesus inquired about the man’s identity. He responded with “Legion.”

Legion was not his actual name, it was what had become of him. He was fractured, fragmented, and traumatized. He had lost sight of his true identity. The mind of this man (Legion) was occupied with challenging thoughts and intense internal dialogues. People in his town saw him as a man possessed because of his unpredictable and terrifying behavior. They did not really know him, they could not see nor hear the truth that lay hidden beneath the darkness of his life. At least not until Jesus came. Jesus saw him. Jesus knew him. Jesus freed him.

Regardless of what has occurred to us or what we have become, the Bible has Good News for us.

It is true that many of us carry the scars of past traumas. The wounds may be quite deep. Sometimes, they can be quite elusive, to the point where we may not even be aware of their presence. However, It may be beneficial for us to consider opening up and allowing the Lord to help us with our pain. The Lord is bringing us healing in His wings. He is liberating us from the effects of all traumas we have experienced. Take a moment to commune with the Lord in prayer. He will graciously answer our spoken and unspoken prayers.
