The Most Influential Person AIB This Week Is Richard Mofe-Damijo

Richard Mofe-Damijo, better known by his stage name RMD, is a well-known actor, author, producer, lawyer, and journalist.

He was born on July 6, 1961, in Warri, Delta State.

He is a native of Delta State’s Aladja community in the Udu Kingdom. Richard has acted in over 100 films and received various honors.

He was a student at Anglican Grammar School, Midwest College, and Warri. He also participated in the drama club. At the University of Benin, he pursued a theater arts degree. More-Damijo enrolled at the University of Lagos to study law again in 1997 and eventually earned a degree there in 2004.

He made his entrance into the acting world in the 1980s when he played the lead character in the soap opera “Ripples.”

Before working as an actor full-time, RMD was a reporter for Concord Newspaper, The Guardian, and Metro Magazine. After playing a flawless part in the film he created and produced, “Out of Bounds,” he experienced his first career breakthrough.

He also held the position of Special Adviser of Culture and Tourism in Delta State in 2008 in addition to having a distinguished acting career and a brief stint in the media. Later, in 2009, the then-Governor of Delta State, Emmanuel Uduaghan, named him as the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism. a post he held up until 2015.

Mary Ellen, RMD’s first wife, passed away in 1996. Later on, he married Jumobi Adegbesan.

He has five kids in total—three from his first marriage and two from his current spouse.
