Adele Laurie Blue Adkins is a British singer and songwriter. She was born on May 5, 1988, and was nurtured by a single mother in Tottenham, London. Adele started her career in music in her early teens. When she was in a secondary school of performing arts, she wrote some songs which were put on Myspace by a friend.

Adele got a record deal with XL Recordings in 2006, the year she received her art degree from the BRIT School. In 2008, she released her first album, 19, which featured the UK top-five songs “Chasing Pavements” and “Make You Feel My Love.” The album received 8x and triple platinum certifications in the UK and the US, respectively. Adele received the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in addition to the Brit Award for Rising Star. Her classic songwriting and soulful vocals have made her one of the most well-known artists of her generation.

In 2011, Adele released her second studio album, 21. With over 31 million copies sold, it became the best-selling album of the twenty-first century worldwide. It received the highest certification for a solo artist ever (18 platinum in the UK) and a diamond in the US.
