The Most Influential Person on AIB This Week Is Mercy Johnson Okojie

Mercy Johnson Okojie is a Nigerian actress, film director, film producer, entrepreneur, and politician. She was born in Lagos to a formal Naval Officer on August 28, 1984. She hails from Okene in Kogi State.

Mercy Johnson started her primary education in River State, ‘Calabar. She later finished her primary education at the Nigerian Navy primary school, in Lagos. After which she went to Naval Secondary School.

Immediately after her secondary education, she auditioned for a role in ” In the Maid”. Thereafter, she was featured in so many other movies such as; Hustlers, Baby Oku in America, and War in the Palace.

She received a Best Supporting Actress prize for her work in the film “Live to Remember” at the 2009 African Movie Awards event, and she also took home the Best Actress prize at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for her performance in the comedy “Dumebi the Dirty Girl.” According to statistics, she was ranked as the most sought-after Nigerian celebrity on Google in December 2011 and again in 2012. On April 1, 2017, she was appointed as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) for entertainment, the arts, and culture to the Kogi state governor.

On November 3rd, 2013, Mercy Johnson was banned from acting along with her co-actors/actresses, by Nollywood movie Marketer. The ban was a result of their high salary demand. The ban was lifted on March 9 March 2014 following an apology.

In October 2019, Mercy Johnson was appointed a brand ambassador for Hollandia Evap Milk of Chi Limited. She is also the brand ambassador for Pennek Nigeria Limited, a real estate investment company based in Lagos.

Mercy Johnson Okojie has appeared in more than 100 films since she started acting, and she is still active as a producer, director, and actress.

She married Prince Odianosen Okojie on 27 August. The couple has four children
