Nick Vujicic, an acclaimed author, motivational speaker, and evangelist, was born on December 4, 1982, in Melbourne, Australia, to Dushka and Boris Vujicic.
Despite being born without arms and legs due to the rare condition of phocomelia, he grew up with two small feet, one with two toes. Nick was the eldest of three children, and his parents, both devoted Christians, raised him with resilience and faith.
As one of the first physically disabled students in a mainstream school, Nick faced severe bullying and, by age eight, considered suicide. At 10, he even attempted to drown himself but held back, believing God had a purpose for his life and out of love for his parents.
His struggles with self-acceptance were eased by his parent’s love and a pivotal moment when his mother shared a story about a man living joyfully despite his disability. Inspired, Nick realized he, too, could lead a fulfilling life.
At seven, Nick gave his first speech at a prayer group, sparking his journey into motivational speaking. With faith and determination, he graduated from Griffith University with a double major in finance and accounting by age 21. His father’s affirmation, “You are a gift, just differently packaged,” became a guiding belief. Nick has since become a global figure, inspiring millions through talks in 78 countries, on over 3,500 stages, and before crowds as large as 800,000.
Nick founded Life Without Limbs (2005) and Attitude is Altitude (2007), organizations dedicated to promoting faith and positive transformation. He believes that “if you change your attitude, you can change your life.”
His books, including Life Without Limits (2010) and Unstoppable (2013), and his role in The Butterfly Circus share his message of hope and resilience. Nick is married to Kanae Miyahara, with whom he has four children: two boys and two girls.
