The Most Influential Person On AIB This Week Is Sola Shobowale

Sola Shobowale is a veteran Nollywood actress. She is a force to be reckoned with in the movie industry in Nigeria. Sola Sobowale has been active in the Nollywood industry for more than three decades.

She was born in Ondo state on December 26, 1965. Her father, Joseph Olagookun is a retired principal, while her mother, Esther Olagokun was a former headmistress.

After completing her primary and secondary education, she proceeded to the University of Ibadan to study music. However, her love for performing ultimately led her to choose to complete her degree in theater arts.

In the beginning, Sola’s acting career was not easy. Sola’s acting career was greatly aided by Tunji Oyelana, her brother-in-law. She was introduced into the Nigerian movie industry by Tunji Oyelana, where she made her acting debut in the film Sura the Tailor.

At first, Sola’s parents opposed her desire to join the movie industry. but Oyelana was able to persuade them that it was a respectable career. Fortunately, Sola’s parents approved.

Sola Sobowale started acting by playing several parts in films made by the Awada Kerikeri Group, which was run by Adebayo Salami. Before becoming well-known, she also featured in the following movie: Asewo To Re Mecca, Mirror in the Sun, and The Village Headmaster.

She came to the limelight when she was featured in Wale Adenuga’s Super Story as Toyin Tomato. A soap that ran on Nigeria’s local station for months.

However, she left the movie industry for some time when she traveled out of Nigeria to the UK with her husband and children. According to her, she left to take care of her family. She went further to explain that, her family comes first. She came back to the movie industry after about 15 years when her children had graduated and were gainfully employed.

Since making a major comeback, the seasoned actress has transformed from Toyin Tomato to Eniola Salami and is currently Laburu, the lead character she played in Kemi Adetiba’s “King of Boys,”

Anyone would be astounded by the radical rebranding Sola Sobowale’s acting career has undergone in the past six years since her return to the industry.

Sola Shobowale is married to Dotun Shobowale, a former corporate executive director of EKO Hospital, and they are blessed with five children, two girls (twins) and three boys.
