The Most Influential Person on AIG is Aliko Dangote

Aliko Dangote is a billionaire business tycoon, who was born on April 10, 1957, in Kano of Northern. He started his business at the age of 8 when he would buy cartoons of sweets and sell them. Nigeria. He is the founder & CEO of Dangote Group, a Multinational Industrial Conglomerate. It is the largest in West Africa. Its products are; cement, flour, steel, sugar, salt, and oil and gas.

He obtained his secondary certificate from Government College, Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State. He then proceeded to Azhar University, Cairo, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies and Administration. He also has honorary degrees from top Universities in Nigeria. Some of these include; Lagos State University, the University of Ibadan, and Ahmadu Bello University.

According to the tradition in their culture that the grandparents should take and raise the first grandchild, Dangote was raised by his grandfather.

Aliko Dangote hails from one of the richest families in Nigeria. His Maternal Great- grandfather, Alhaji Alhassan Dantata, was once the richest man in West Africa. He traded groundnuts, kola nuts, and raw materials to British Companies. His father was a businessman and a politician.

He founded the Dangote group as a small trading firm in 1977. After some years, he transformed the company that became the Dangote group in 1981. Between 1980 and 1999, Dangote enlarge his business to include rice, flour, fish, and sugar

Dangote became Nigeria’s first billionaire in 2007. He reportedly increased by $9.2billion in 2013, elevating his wealth and turning him to be the thirteenth richest man in the universe. He is known as the richest man in Africa and the richest black man in the world, with a net worth of $ 14 billion.

Dangote has been married and divorced twice. He has three daughters and one adopted son.
