The Most Influential Player On AIB This Week Is Kanu Nwankwo

Kanu Nwankwo is a former Nigerian professional footballer who had a very successful career at club and international levels. He is known as one of Nigeria’s most famous football players.
He was born on August 1, 1976, in Owerri, Nigeria.

He started his professional career with Nigerian club Iwuanyanwu Nationale, before moving to Europe and playing for clubs such as Ajax in the Netherlands, Inter Milan and Arsenal in England, and later Portsmouth and West Bromwich Albion.

He won various domestic and international trophies, including three FA Cups with Arsenal and one UEFA Champions League with Ajax.

Kanu Nwankwo had an impressive career with Nigeria’s national team, the Super Eagles. He played in several Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and FIFA World Cups for Nigeria, winning the Olympic gold medal in football in 1996 and the African Player of the Year award twice (1996 and 1999).

Kanu’s awards include; a UEFA Champions League medal, a UEFA Cup medal, three FA Cup medals, and two African Player of the Year awards. According to Wiki, he is one of only a few players in history to have won the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Cup, and an Olympic Gold Medal. He is considered one of the best players in African football history, as he made the third-most substitute appearances in Premier League history, 118 times.

He is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and the African brand ambassador for StarTimes, a digital TV operator.

He also owns Kanu Sports TV, an Internet sports television service.

Aside from being a professional footballer, Kanu is also involved in philanthropic activities through the Kanu Heart Foundation, which he founded. The foundation provides surgeries and support to African children with heart conditions.

He is married to Amarachi and are both blessed with three children.
