A third female prison officer has been found guilty of engaging in improper relationships with inmates at HMP Five Wells, located in Northants, United Kingdom.
Aimee Duke, aged 26, received a one-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of misconduct in public office at Northampton Crown Court. Authorities discovered that she “interacted inappropriately” with two inmates, exchanging 248 calls and messages with one prisoner over a two-month period and 254 with another. CCTV evidence revealed Duke exiting a single-occupancy cell alongside the prisoners.
Duke was taken into custody in September 2022, just months after the £253 million super-prison began operations. She was visibly emotional, crying throughout the court proceedings.
This incident comes after two comparable cases at HMP Five Wells. Prison officer Toni Cole, 29, was imprisoned for 12 months in February for romantic encounters with an inmate, while Rachel Stanton, 31, narrowly escaped jail time in July after forming a relationship with an armed robber.
These incidents have raised serious concerns about ongoing staff misconduct at the newly established super-prison and the difficulties in upholding security and professional boundaries.
