Three Arraigned Over Missing Anambra Billionaire, Benjamin Ezemma

Three people have been charged at the Awka High Court in Anambra State in relation to the disappearance of Benjamin Ezemma, also known as BigBen, a rich businessman.

They all pleaded not guilty in front of the presiding judge, Justice Ike Ogu.

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Alex Ajesieme represented Ozo Nweke, a prominent figure in Awka, while OL Udemezue and AO Onyekachi represented the second and third defendants.

While the second defendant has been in custody since November 2024, the first defendant was brought to court from an Enugu hospital.

The third defendant has not been apprehended.

While the second defendant’s attorney sought bail, which the prosecution rejected, the prosecution asked for permission to hire a private physician to evaluate the first defendant’s health.

The status quo was upheld by Justice Ike Ogu, who decided to keep the second defendant in detention while granting the first and third defendants their freedom.

For a full hearing, the case was postponed until March 7, 2025.
