Three Arrested Over Brutal Murder Of Lagos State Teacher

Idowu Hamzat, an Ibadan-based teacher, was brutally murdered, and the Lagos Police Command has detained three people in connection with the crime.

The 36-year-old teacher was murdered in Epe, Lagos State’s Eredo neighbourhood, and his body was dumped in a bush.

The suspects have been transferred to the homicide branch of the command, according to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesperson for the state’s police department, who confirmed the arrest to the Nigerian Tribune on Monday, June 12, 2023.

Kazeem Apena, Agbomeji Nojeem, and Omobowale were the names given by Hundeyin for the suspects who had been apprehended.

“Investigations have commenced on the incident. Three suspects have already been arrested. They are in our custody. The case has been transferred to the State CID, Panti for further investigations,” the PPRO added.

The police are also looking for additional gang members who may have been involved in the murder, including Olaonipekun AKA Nokia, Abdul Wahab Kunle Baba Epe, Dare Samba, Idowu Felix, Agbomeji, and others.

There are hints that the teacher may have been persuaded to visit Epe by the suspects, even if the facts surrounding his murder have not yet been fully uncovered.

A resident of Epe, who pleaded anonymity, while speaking with the Nigerian Tribune said; “Nobody knows the mission of the teacher in Epe. His parents even said that he had not been to Epe before.

“A resident who saw them when they were killing him informed the Vigilante members who in turn reported to the police before three of them were arrested.

“It was through his mobile phone and Identification Card that he was traced to be a teacher in a school in Ibadan. It was also through the phone that the vigilante members were able to get his parents. When they came over the weekend, they claimed that their son had not been to Epe before,” the source added
