President Bola Tinubu has nominated Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, who now moves to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State. This marks Uzoka-Anite’s third portfolio in the administration.
Oyedele, 50, is an economist, accountant, and public policy expert with over 22 years of experience at PwC, where he rose to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. He’s also a professor at Babcock University and a visiting scholar at Lagos Business School.
As chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Oyedele led the overhaul of Nigeria’s tax system, introducing new tax laws that took effect on January 1, 2026. His nomination awaits Senate confirmation.
