Tinubu Will Use AI To Combat Insecurity – Jimoh Ibrahim

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim of Ondo South has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu intends to use artificial intelligence (AI) to address Nigeria’s security concerns.

Ibrahim made these remarks during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today show.

The senator emphasized the president’s commitment to security, stating that Tinubu has earmarked N5 trillion for security, with a focus on the use of technology to combat insurgency and banditry.

“Give it to President Tinubu, whether you like him or not, I am not his spokesman, the security index has improved,” Ibrahim said.

He added, “Before I came on, I checked the security index of Nigeria from the global system. No city or LG is flying Boko Haram flag as of today. I am a security man, and he is going to spend more – he wants to bring in technology to solve the problem of security as opposed to using manpower, and that engagement would cost him money.”

Ibrahim hinted at plans for technological innovation, including an AI-driven application for security personnel. “He is likely to develop an app that police and army would use – 2025 will be the worst year for criminals. He will use AI, distil it to security personnel to make your life comfortable,” he stated.

The senator was optimistic about the economic benefits of enhanced security. “If he is able to do that with N5 trillion, what is the distilment going to lead to?” he said sarcastically. He added that Nigerians could expect higher revenue as the country’s security situation improves.
