Tinubu’s Support Group DG Dumps APC

Abdulmumin Jibrin, the Director-General (DG) of Tinubu Support Groups Management Council, has exited the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former member of the House of Representatives representing Kiru/Bebeji in Kano state announced his decision on Facebook.

Despite the fact that he is also a member of the APC, he was expected to re-enter the race for representation of his federal constituency.

Jibrin stated that his next political party will be announced soon.

He wrote on Facebook, “I have done my best for APC. It’s time to move on. I will announce my new political party within the next 24 hours Insha Allah. I will make a formal statement in due course. Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin.”

Jibrin’s bid to return to the green chamber failed following a rerun election on January 25, 2020, when he was defeated by Aliyu Detti Yako, a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), after party leaders in the state allegedly boycotted him.

His issues with the Kano APC leadership began in 2019 when he was expelled from the party by the Bebeji Local Council chapter in Kano State, and he has since continued to struggle for recognition within the party structure in his home state, despite remaining popular in the party’s national structure with his fight to have Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu elected as the party’s next presidential candidate.
