Toke Makinwa: Why I Regret Bleaching My Skin

Media personality Toke Makinwa has disclosed that whitening her skin was her biggest regret.

It was the “dumbest” thing she had ever done, she declared.

Nonetheless, she expressed her gratitude for her wealth and good genes, which prevented the skin bleaching’s negative effects.

This was revealed by the actress in a recent interactive session with fans on X platform.

A fan asked, “If you could go back in time, what would you do differently?”

Makinwa replied, “Nothing. Regret is so exhausting! Wait, maybe bleaching my skin. It was the dumbest thing ever and I’m just so thankful for good genes and money cos….”

Bleaching of skin has become a way of life for many Nigerians.  From the streets of Lagos to the remotest community. Users of bleaching creams are everywhere. Stories abound about how many women, in particular, deny themselves and their children other basic necessities of life in order to buy these bleaching products.  In some cases, homes are broken when money for these creams is not made available or when some ambitious women decides to do otherwise in the quest to maintain the much-desired light skin.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
