Tragedy As dad reverses over and kills his one-year-old daughter

A child was killed after her father accidentally reversed over her in his SUV as he was headed for the supermarket to buy groceries.

Rishwika Salibindla, one year old, died after her father, Joseph Reddy Salibindla, unknowingly backed into her out the front of his residence in Edna Avenue, Toongabbie, in Sydney’s northwest, just before 5.30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12.

Mr Salibindla had gone inside his Audi SUV to acquire groceries at his local store, not realising that his daughter had followed him out the door.

He then reversed over the girl, not realising she was behind the truck, before exiting to find her covered in blood.

Mr Salibindla’s wife, Sravanthi Thirumalareddy, and the couple’s two boys, who were inside the family house at the time of the occurrence, hurried outdoors.

Mr Salibindla attempted to keep Rishwika alive until the arrival of six emergency workers from the NSW emergency Service.

The girl died as a result of her injuries.

The bereaved father of three was later taken to Parramatta police station for interrogation and spent Friday night assisting authorities with their investigations.

Before being hauled away by cops, the 41-year-old was seen sobbing in the arms of one of his relatives.

There have been no charges filed.

Mrs Thirumalareddy spent hours inspecting the crime scene while family members and neighbours consoled the distraught mother.

Rishwika’s uncle, Joseph Salibindla, stated that he and his family will be by Mrs Thirumalareddy’s side while she mourned the loss of her daughter.

“We will stay here with her, me and my wife,” he said to The Daily Telegraph.

“Whatever we can do.”

Officers have set up a crime scene on the premises while they continue to investigate the event.

A report for the coroner will be drafted.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
