Transgender Women Should Be Allowed At Female School Sports To Boost ‘Their Mental Health And Self-esteem’ – Doctors

According to medical experts, transgender students should be permitted to participate in women’s sports at their schools in order to safeguard their health.

Sports participation, according to Vanderbilt University researchers in Tennessee, has a number of advantages, including raising self-esteem and mental health and reducing the risk of obesity and chronic diseases.

They fought for the right of transgender people to compete in the gender of their choice at elementary, middle, high, and college levels.

They did, however, acknowledge that competitive sports were a different situation because players had dedicated their entire careers to the sport.

According to estimates, there are 300,000 transgender teenagers in the US between the ages of 13 and 17, or 1.7% of high school students. Of these, around half are guys who identify as women biologically.

Researchers argued for transgender adolescent engagement in sports as well as their capacity to compete in an opinion piece for JAMA Pediatrics.

They recommended that families, paediatricians, and primary care sports medicine physicians have an “active role” in advancing this.

The research group was affiliated with Vanderbilt University, which is currently facing criticism for reportedly disclosing to the state, transgender adults’ health records without masking their identities. Some of those affected claim that the state requested the information in an effort to ‘negatively target the transgender community.’

Asked whether trans women have an advantage over biological women in an interview with STAT News, Dr Sin said: “[Some research has found that] trans women are superior to cis women because of certain strengths and speed measures.

“But the problem with this is that it doesn’t translate to sports performance.

“It’s not like you squat more and that translates to you jumping higher, or you can do a heavier bench press, so you can throw things further.

“There are also techniques and other parts that play into it, because otherwise the strongest person would just win all the medals, and that’s not true.”

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
