Trump Praises Nigeria’s First Lady During US Visit

During Washington, DC’s National Prayer Breakfast, US President Donald Trump officially lauded Nigeria’s First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, calling her a “very respected person” and emphasizing her role in religious life.

Trump gave the Nigerian First Lady a moment of attention at the yearly prayer breakfast, which attracts members of the US Congress, religious leaders, and international dignitaries.  Trump spoke to the attendees about religion, leadership, and religious freedom around the world.

When Trump noticed Oluremi Tinubu in the crowd, he took a moment to thank her for her service and presence, mentioning her role as First Lady and as a pastor in Nigeria’s Christian community.

“We’re honoured to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at the largest church in Nigeria. A very respected woman. First Lady, please, where are you? Thank you very much. It’s a great honour. Thank you very much. Very respected person, too. Thank you,” Trump said, drawing applause from attendees.
