U.S. President Donald Trump has addressed the possibility of granting a pardon to Ghislaine Maxwell, an associate of Jeffrey Epstein, for her role in s£x trafficking underage girls.
Maxwell, Epstein’s former partner, is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for her part in Epstein’s heinous crimes.
Trump has not definitively stated whether he would utilize his extensive presidential pardon authority to free Maxwell.
When questioned on the issue, Trump stated: ‘I’m allowed to do it, but it’s something I haven’t thought about,’ he added.
There has been speculation regarding whether Trump might exercise his executive power to either pardon Maxwell or reduce her sentence.
Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence for her involvement in conspiring with Epstein to s£xually abuse minors, having been convicted in 2021 on five counts related to s£x trafficking and conspiracy.
Last week, the White House swiftly dismissed suggestions that Trump is actively contemplating granting Maxwell leniency.
‘There have been no discussions or consideration of a pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell, and there never will be,’ a senior White House official said.
Trump’s remark comes as Maxwell, the only individual currently incarcerated for Jeffrey Epstein’s child s£x trafficking operation, is engaged in a second day of discussions with the Justice Department.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche traveled to Florida for an in-person meeting as Trump’s MAGA supporters demand clarity on Maxwell’s knowledge of Epstein’s crimes amid allegations of a ‘cover-up.’
Maxwell’s lawyer, David Markus, stated that she responded to every question posed during the lengthy interview that spanned all day Thursday. She is meeting with Blanche again on Friday.
Maxwell took the ‘full day and asked a lot of questions,’ he said.
‘Miss Maxwell answered every single question. She never stopped. She never invoked a privilege. She never declined to answer. She answered all the questions truthfully, honestly and to the best of her ability.’
She was observed returning to prison following the extensive meeting, carrying an unidentified box of items.
