Two Arrested For Allegedly Buying Car Of Murdered CBN Staff

Ogun state police command agents detained two suspects on Monday, February 13, 2023, who had purchased the stolen car of Kehinde Fatinoye, a former employee of the Central Bank of Nigeria who had been assassinated alongside his wife Bukola at their house in the state on December 31, 2022.

According to a statement from SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state police command’s spokesperson, the two suspects, Azeez Usman and Owolaja Aanuoluwapo, were detained at different locations across the state after earlier detained suspects confessed to selling the automobile to Azeez Usman for N150,000.

Recall that the couple’s driver was arraigned last week for recruiting two other people to break into their home and murder the couple and their son.

The statement read in part, “After killing the couple, the suspects got hold of their son OreOluwa and their adopted child, Felix Olorunyomi, tied them with rope and put them in the booth of the Hyundai car with which they drove them to Ogun river bridge at Adigbe area, where they threw them into the river.

“The suspects later parked the car somewhere in the oke Ata area of Abeokuta, but later contacted Owolaja AanuOluwapo who went there and drove the vehicle to Azeez Usman’s workshop where the car was butchered into pieces and sold in parts.”

The two suspects were well informed that the car was stolen, according to Abimbola, but they still went ahead and paid N150,000 for it. This was revealed by the police investigation, she added.

The police spokesperson stated that CP Frank Mba, the state’s commissioner of police, has directed that all suspects be brought before a judge as soon as the inquiry was over.

Buying stolen property directly involves you in the theft of that item, whether knowingly or not. Therefore, one has to be careful when purchasing anything, especially a used item. Always request for a receipt, and if it is a used item, let the seller show the receipt with which he/she bought the item he/she is now trying to sell to you.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
