UNILAG Bans Skittmaking And Content Creation On Campus

The University of Lagos (UNILAG), located in Akoka, has forbidden the unpermitted employment of its grounds, encompassing residence halls and various additional resources, for the creation of videos by those producing skits, directors of films, and individuals developing online content.

In an announcement disseminated on Thursday, October 28 and endorsed by its Chief of Communications, Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, the academic institution voiced apprehension regarding the rising practice of persons capturing footage for skits, cinematic works, and diverse other materials across the campus area absent any requisite consent.

This initiative is intended to shield the learning atmosphere and uphold the organization’s reputation against distortion through unchecked creative endeavors.

“The attention of the University of Lagos Management has been drawn to the increasing use of the University premises, including hostels and other facilities, for shooting of films/videos (skits, vox pop, etc.) and cinematographic activities, without appropriate authorisation,” the statement said.

The establishment moreover indicated that it has implemented guidelines for capturing images or generating materials on the premises to safeguard security, propriety, and the wholeness of its educational and lodging areas. The university mandated that every individual—ranging from matriculated learners, faculty members, or outside associates—ought to procure formal permission from the communications department ahead of any recording sessions.

“Members of the University community and general public are therefore advised to comply strictly with this directive in the interest of order, safety, and collective responsibility,” the statement added.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
