Uriel Oputa, a Big Brother Naija star, has criticized the use of cancer-related allegations to create material.
The reality TV personality said that cancer is a serious condition on Instagram. She continued by saying that it is not appropriate to make light of her mother’s breast cancer diagnosis.
Her tweet follows content creator Blessing Okoro, also known as Blessing CEO, announcing publicly that she has been diagnosed with “stage 4,” even though she did not use derogatory language. She posted a video of herself undoing her braids, causing some hair to fall out.
Speaking on the topic of cancer, Uriel wrote: “I CANT BELIEVE WE’RE ACTUALLY PLAYING AROUND WITH SOMETHING LIKE CANCER.
“ALL I SAW WAS STAGE 4- NO DEFINITION NO CLARITY. NOTHING EXPLAINED JUST THROWN OUT THERE SO LOOSELY THERE WASN’T EVEN CANCER WRITTEN JUST-STAGE 4 AND EVEN WITH THAT.
“IF THIS IS TRUE, THEN MY HEART GENUINELY GOES OUT TO YOU. I’VE SEEN SOME REALLY NASTY COMMENTS, AND NOBODY DESERVES THAT, ESPECIALLY NOT WHEN IT COMES TO SOMETHING THIS SERIOUS.
“BUT IF THIS IS NOT TRUE THEN THIS IS ACTUALLY DISTURBING. THERE ARE CERTAIN THINGS YOU JOKE ABOUT. AND THERE ARE CERTAIN THINGS YOU DONT TOUCH – THIS IS ONE OF THEM.
“NO MATTER THE CLICKBAIT, NO MATTER THE ATTENTION , THIS ISN’T OKAY.
“AS SOMEONE WHOSE MOTHER WAS DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER LAST YEAR. I TAKE THIS PERSONALLY, THIS IS NOT CONTENT THIS IS REAL LIFE SO IF IT’S REAL, I’M SENDING YOU STRENGTH.
“BUT IF I’S NOT. YOU’REACTUALLY NOT OKAY FOR THAT.”
Uriel added: “Cancer is Not Content.!!! I swear I don’t Rate our celebrities.
“This hit Home, because my mother is actually battling this. Thank God we caught it early. If it’s True God is your strength. Also if it’s true pls start removing sugar from your Diet…
