Veteran Actor; Tony Dow Is Still Alive Despite Being Declared Dead By His Wife

In a case of bad timing, one of the ‘Leave It To Beaver’ actors; Tony Dow was mistakenly pronounced dead but his son says the actor is still alive despite being accidentally pronounced dead by his wife.

Christopher Dow and the actor’s management team have confirmed that Tony Dow is still alive, with his representatives attributing the earlier misinformation to the distraught state of the Leave It To Beaver actor’s wife.

Dow, who played Wally Cleaver in the iconic sitcom leave it to Beavers, is reportedly in hospice care in his “final hours”, Christopher Dow told Fox News Digital.

This is a difficult time,” Dow’s son Christopher Dow said in a statement posted on the actor’s Facebook page. “Dad is at home, under hospice care, and in his last hours. My wife and I are by his side along with many friends that have visited. He has a fighting heart.”

The update comes after Dow’s wife; Lauren Schulkind, accidentally announced his death in a recent statement.

According to TMZ, Shulkind was “very distraught” after believing that her husband had passed away.

“It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share with you the passing of our beloved Tony this morning. Tony was a beautiful soul – kind, compassionate, funny, and humble. It was truly a joy to just be around him. His gentle voice and unpretentious manner were immediately comforting and you could not help but love him. The world has lost an amazing human being, but we are all richer for the memories that he has left us. From the warm reminiscences of Wally Cleaver to those of us fortunate enough to know him personally – thank you, Tony. And thank you for the reflections of a simpler time, the laughter, the friendship, and for the feeling that you were a big brother to us all.”

In a subsequent update, a post on the page in a note marked “URGENT UPDATE” written by representatives Frank Bilotta and Renee James reads:

“This morning Tony’s wife Lauren, who was very distraught, had notified us that Tony had passed and asked that we notify all his fans. As we are sure you can understand, this has been a very trying time for her. We have since received a call from Tony’s daughter-in-law saying that while Tony is not doing well, he has not yet passed. Tony’s son Christopher and his daughter-in-law Melissa have also been by his side comforting him, and we will keep you posted on any future updates.”

In May of this year, Dow announced that his liver cancer, which he was diagnosed with years ago, had returned.

The sitcom, Leave it to Beaver which focused on a 1950s suburban family, ran for six seasons between 1957 and 1963. The sitcom focused on an abused boy named Beaver, his brother Wally, their friend Eddie, and their parents Ward and June.

Dow returns to the franchise for the ’80s TV movie series ‘The New Leave It To Beaver’ in which he directed five episodes and wrote one.

Later in his career, he also directed episodes of new lassi, coach, Babylon 5, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

We hope and pray he gets better.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
