After it was discovered that a man called Caleb was dating multiple women at the same time, TikTok in New York City was overwhelmed with warnings. The man, called “West Elm Caleb” after the furniture shop where he works, gained popularity after several women said he went on dates with them and then ‘ghosted’ them.

The West Elm Caleb drama began last Tuesday, according to The Independent, when TikTok user Mimi Shou posted a video about being ghosted by a man named Caleb. Several women in the comments section quickly wondered if she was talking about “West Elm Caleb.”

She wasn’t, after all. Another man named Caleb actually ghosted Mimi Shou (what a coincidence!). She did, however, research “West Elm Caleb” to see if he was dating multiple women, at the same time. She posted a video warning women to stay away from Caleb after discovering that several women had expressed interest in matching with him on the dating app ‘Hinge’ before being dumped by him.

Another TikTok user, Kate Glavan started getting tagged in Ms. Shou’s video.

Kate Glavan said, “I never would’ve known the guy I was seeing was ‘West Elm Caleb’ without TikTok.” She also made a video in which she read out messages from other women cautioning her about the man.

She also stated how some other woman, Kelly, was with Caleb on Saturday morning, hours before he went on a date with her, in her video.

Caleb and Kelly met on Hinge, according to Kelly, who goes by the TikTok handle @kellsbellsbaby. She said that after six weeks of dating, he “randomly stopped texting” her.

Meanwhile, the hashtag #WestElmCaleb became more popular as more women talked of dating him. According to E! News, videos tagged with #WestElmCaleb had been viewed more than 5.4 million times on TikTok as of Wednesday.

Despite multiple news sites reaching out to him for comment, the individual known as “West Elm Caleb” has yet to reply to the controversy.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
