US President Donald Trump seemed to suggest that the United States played a role in the Israeli assault on Iran through a social media statement.
“We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran. Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American made, conceived, and manufactured “stuff.” Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.
In another post, Trump stated, “We know exactly where the so-called “Supreme Leader” is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there – We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
The president’s remarks come as he faces inquiries about US involvement in the conflict and during discussions regarding an attack on the Fordow nuclear facility.
Such an attack would necessitate US participation, as B-2 bombers deploying bunker-busting bombs are the only means to neutralize the capabilities of a facility concealed deep within an Iranian mountain.
On Tuesday, the president expressed his desire for “a real end” to the conflict, emphasizing that he was “not looking for a ceasefire.”
He further described his goal as a “complete give-up” by Iran.
“I think they know not to touch our troops,” he said of Iran, cautioning that the US would be “gloves off” in its retaliation.
Trump left the G7 summit in Canada on Monday, a day earlier than anticipated, due to his desire to return to Washington as Israel and Iran exchanged missile strikes.
