West Ham Agrees Deal To Sign Defender Harry Maguire

West Ham and Manchester United have reached an agreement in principle to sign defender Harry Maguire in a deal worth over £30 million.

The Red Devils are anxious to offload the centre-back this summer, having recently stripped him of his club captaincy.

Personal terms are not believed to be an issue, but negotiations on the specifics of his departure from United are still ongoing.

West Ham are hopeful of completing the signing after having a £20 million bid for the England international rejected last month.

West Ham’s £30 million deal for Maguire has officially been approved, according to The Athletic. Maguire had previously shown reluctance to join West Ham this summer, insisting that he wanted to stay and compete for a position in Erik ten Hag’s starting eleven.

The Hammers, on the other hand, appear to have persuaded the 30-year-old of their initiative, as personal terms are no longer expected to be a problem.

Gareth Southgate, England’s coach, is alleged to have spoken with Maguire and told him that failing to play consistently for United might jeopardize his spot in England’s international squad.
