Why Manchester City Struggled Against Leicester – Rio Ferdinand

Rio Ferdinand, a former player for Manchester United, has identified the reason Manchester City struggled to defeat Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday.

He pointed out that had Brendan Rodgers faced Guardiola’s team head-to-head, Manchester City would have easily defeated Leicester City.

Despite struggling against Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday, Manchester City prevailed 1-0 thanks to Kevin De Bruyne’s breathtaking freekick in the second half.

With 15 minutes remaining, Leicester City opened up the play and created some good chances after they had defended for 75 minutes.

Speaking on BT Sport, Rio Ferdinand said, “If they go out there and start playing like they did in the last part of the game then it’s probably 3-0 before halftime most times because there be open bigger spaces for City to run into and opportunities to punish them.”

Leicester City had resumed winning ways before the defeat on Saturday, recording outstanding victories in their previous two Premier League games.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
