Will Smith’s Mother Comments On Her Son Slapping Chris Rock At The Oscars

Carolyn Smith, Will Smith’s mother, has commented on her son slapping Chris Rock for making a horrible joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith at the Oscars.

Carolyn Smith stated that she was taken aback and that she had never seen her son act in such a manner.

She said to 6abc, “He is a very even, people person. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen him go off. First time in his lifetime… I’ve never seen him do that.”

Carolyn, Will’s mother, expressed her joy at his son’s Oscar award, saying to her local TV station, “I know how he works, how hard he works…I’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting. When I heard the name, I was just, ‘Yes!’”

Will Smith, however, took to his Instagram page and story to apologize to Chris Rock, stating that his actions are “unacceptable and inexcusable.”

He said, “Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.

“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
