Woman Catches Suspect Who Kidnapped And Killed Her Daughter

A woman in Zaria, Kaduna State, has caught a suspect in the kidnapping and killing of her 23-year-old daughter, Fatima Adamu, for ransom.

A security source told the Daily Trust that the suspect, Aminu Ibrahim, 35, abducted Fatima, killed her, and buried her.

Speaking at her home, the deceased’s mother, Mallama Nana Fatima, who caught the suspect while delivering the second ransom, said she couldn’t carry on because of the extent of her grief.

However, the victim’s younger sister, Hajara Adamu, explained that Fatima had travelled to Kaduna with the intention of staying four days.

Hajara went on to say that when she did not return at the appointed time, she received many phone calls that went unanswered.

She claimed that subsequently, a man answered the phone and informed them that he had abducted Fatima and demanded N100,000 in ransom.

According to the family, the money was raised and delivered to the suspect at a predetermined location in Wusasa, Zaria.

The sister went on to say that the suspect had promised to release the victim that day but was unable to do so. He called back three days later and demanded another N100,000.

After selling her parcel of land, the mother and sister brought the money to the designated meeting spot in Wusasa, where they saw and recognized the suspect after alighting off a commercial motorcycle, commonly referred to as an okada.

Fatima immediately raised the alarm, attracting onlookers to the scene and assisting in the arrest of the culprit, who was then handed over to the Dan Magaji Divisional Police Station for questioning.

According to reports, the suspect confessed to the murder and led police to his home in Limancin Iya, Zaria, where he was accused of burying the abducted young woman.

During the preliminary investigation, Ibrahim admitted to participating in kidnappings in the area with his group.

He revealed that the victim died in their possession and was buried in his Limanchin Iya home.

ASP Mansir Hassan, the acting police public relations officer for the Kaduna State command, confirmed the suspect’s detention and said the investigation was underway.
