Five young boys have been found guilty of fraud by the federal and state high courts in Ibadan, Oyo State; and Osogbo, Osun State.

The charges were brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Amusa Abdulhakeem Oluwasegunfunmi, a final-year transport planning management student at Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), is among the convicts.

For unlawful impersonation, Oluwasegunfunmi received an eight-month community service sentence.

Others include Lawal Samuel Morenikeji, Osuolale Abdullahi Abiodun, Ajisafe Sodiq Olaide, and Olamilekan Ridwan Taofeek.

They pleaded “guilty” and were charged and convicted of distinct cyber-fraud offenses on one-count charges.

Oluwasegunfunmi was found guilty of this offense in violation of section 22 (2) (b) (1) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 by Justice Ayo-Emmanuel of the Federal High Court, Osogbo.

He is required by the sentence to clean the restrooms at the Ataoja School of Science in Osogbo.

The school principal will keep track of the convict’s attendance and submit it in when his sentence is up.

Ajisafe Sodiq Olaide was also given a six-month community service sentence by Justice Iyabo Yerima of the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan.

He had violated Section 419 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38 of the Laws of Oyo State, 2000, by obtaining money under false pretence.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
