Lamine Yamal, a Barcelona player, stated that he would love to award the Ballon d’Or to Lionel Messi or Neymar if he were unable to win it himself.
Not only that, but the 18-year-old called Messi the best football player of all time. Yamal told RTVE (via Barca Universal).
Neymar and Messi. I would give one [Ballon d’Or] to ‘Ney’, I think he deserves it,” Yamal told RTVE (via Barca Universal).
“The ‘Ney’ who was playing for Barca or Paris at the time would definitely win it [Ballon d’Or] now.
“I would’ve liked him [Neymar ] to have won one. And obviously, Messi because he is the best ever.”
Yamal is among the leading contenders to win the Ballon d’Or in 2025.
He will compete against players like Mohamed Salah, Ousmane Dembele, Raphinha, and Kylain Mbappe for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
