9 And 5 Years Old Children Arrested For Attempted Kidnap

The Kwara State Police Command has launched an investigation into the alleged kidnapping attempt of a two-year-old boy in Ilorin by two kids, aged 9 and 5.

According to reports, the kids were apprehended in Oja Tuntun market in Baboko, in the Ilorin metropolis.

Traders who had become suspicious of the children’s movements raised alarm, which eventually resulted in the arrest of the minors, who were allegedly trying to kidnap a boy.

According to a market source who wished to remain anonymous and who spoke to Nigerian Tribune, the kids confessed that they were each promised N12,000 if they completed the work.

The source said, “But now, the issue has taken a new dimension as those persons mentioned by the children happened to be a relation of the owner of the baby. But the case is already at the Police headquarters.”

The incident was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, Okasanmi Ajayi, who said that the accused kids said they were merely looking for the boy’s parents.

The PPRO stated, “Yes, we are aware of the case. The sketchy details we have now is that it involves a boy and a girl of 9 and 5 years old respectively, who were accused of trying to steal a two-year-old. But they (the accused) said the baby was lost and they were trying to locate the parents.

“That is the sketchy details we have now but an investigation is ongoing. And considering the ages of the parties involved, the CP has ordered for a thorough investigation of the matter.”
