Today’s reading from Saint Paul ignites a powerful message: God has brought us back into His embrace through Christ! This incredible truth means that our past sins are wiped clean—no longer a barrier between us and God! Not only are we given a fresh start, but we also receive an essential mission: to be vibrant ministers and ambassadors of reconciliation to those around us!
Sure, finding reconciliation in our lives can be challenging, but think about it—what an adventure! Sometimes, we experience the joy of mending friendships or healing family rifts, giving us a chance at a brand-new beginning. Yet, we know that sometimes forgiveness comes with lingering memories of hurt. Even when we’re ready to move forward, the other person might not be on the same page. Full reconciliation can feel like climbing a steep mountain, but every single step counts!
Consider a long-standing family feud. While complete reconciliation may not occur in a flash, small, brave steps can pave the way—like truly listening and acknowledging the other person’s viewpoint. You could choose to forgive someone, even if they don’t reciprocate. After a significant clash, two siblings might say, “Let’s forgive and find a way to peacefully coexist, even if it means keeping our distance for now.” So, what other bold moves can we make toward reconciliation?
Perhaps the inspiration we need lies in one of the Beatitudes: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” Jesus challenges us to be enthusiastic ministers and ambassadors of peace at every opportunity! And doesn’t relentless peacemaking sound exhilarating? Let’s take the initiative to pursue reconciliation! God has reconciled with each of us for eternity. So, why not work a little harder to add more names to our reconciliation list? Let’s make this journey towards harmony together!
