Liverpool Star Diogo Jota And Brother Andre Silva Laid To Rest

On Saturday morning, July 5, Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva were laid to rest during a service in Portugal.

The funeral for the Liverpool striker and his younger sibling was held at Igreja Matriz de Gondomar (the Mother Church of Gondomar) at 10am, with a significant presence from the club, including captain Virgil van Dijk.

Among those in attendance were Andy Roberson, Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister, Joe Gomez, and Conor Bradley, joined by Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, and head coach Arne Slot. Sporting director Richard Hughes and CEO of football Michael Edwards were also present.

Jota’s Portuguese national teammates included Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Al Hilal’s Joao Cancelo, and Ruben Neves, among several others.

The tragic incident occurred when Jota, 28, and Silva, 25, d!ed near Zamora in northwestern Spain early Thursday, after their Lamborghini crashed on a secluded highway just after midnight and caught fire.

Reports indicate the brothers were traveling to northern Spain to catch a boat to England, where Jota was set to return to Liverpool following a summer break.

Jota’s passing came just two weeks after his marriage to longtime partner Rute Cardoso during a holiday following a demanding season in which he contributed to Liverpool’s Premier League victory. The couple shared three children, the youngest born last year.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
