Rashford Appears To Blame United For His Career Going Downhill

Marcus Rashford has indicated that the “inconsistent environment” at Manchester United has impeded his ability to sustain peak performance throughout his professional career.

The 27-year-old has experienced a strong beginning at his new club, Barcelona, where he has scored three goals and contributed five assists in 10 matches so far.

Rashford’s performances have secured his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad as they prepare for the FIFA World Cup next summer.

Ahead of England’s recent qualifier against Latvia on Tuesday, ITV asked the forward about Tuchel’s view that consistency is the key to elevating Rashford to a world-class level.

Rashford responded by recognizing his ambition to become a more consistent performer, while subtly pointing out that Manchester United’s environment has posed challenges to his development.

“For sure, consistency is a massive part of it,” Rashford said. I feel like I have been in an inconsistent environment for a very long time, so it is even more difficult to be consistent.

“But I completely agree, I think consistency is what I need to bring into my game and I am looking to do that. I want to be at my best, not sometimes, but as often as possible.

“When people talk about consistency, in order to be consistent in anything not just sport, you need consistent variables in your life and the way you train.

“We have just had so many changes so far in my career but I have to look forward and that it definitely one of the things I want to put right and improve on to be at my best more often.

“When I am at my best I really enjoy everything about the sport.”

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
