How Technology Shapes Our Children’s Behaviour
Great Mothers!
We spend so much time with our children because of our responsibilities toward them. We’ve all noticed how easily they get glued to screens — phones, tablets, video games, and television. Sometimes, we don’t mind because it keeps them busy and gives us a little space. However, it’s important to understand that every click, swipe, and tap is shaping our children’s behaviour — forming habits mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually.
The truth is, we are raising children and teenagers in a world far different from the one we grew up in. Gone are the days when childhood meant outdoor games, letter writing, or storytelling in the moonlight. Today our children live in a world surrounded by glowing screens; phones, tablets, televisions, and social media platforms — all constantly shaping how they think, feel, and behave.
Technology itself isn’t bad; it’s a beautiful gift when used intentionally and wisely. Our children can learn, create, and explore through it. The digital world is designed to give quick rewards — instant likes, fast games, funny videos, and colorful animations — and soon, their brains begin to crave that same speed in real life. Homework feels “too long and tiring,” chores feel “too much and tedious,” and conversations seem “boring.” Teenagers especially become restless or withdrawn, comparing their lives to the perfect pictures they see online. The joy that once came from family time or outdoor play begins to fade away.
Constant screen exposure doesn’t just affect what they do; it changes how they respond to life. It can shorten attention spans, reduce patience, and dull empathy. Without realizing it, their hearts and minds are being shaped more by what they watch than by real-life values and experiences.
We can’t shut the digital world out, but we can guide our children through it. Let’s teach them to set healthy boundaries, balance screen time with real-life experiences, and model the discipline we expect from them.
Let’s intentionally raise children who are not only tech-savvy but also heart-savvy — children who understand that real joy, confidence, and connection can’t be downloaded or streamed but are found in love, learning, and real relationships.
How are your child’s or teen’s screen habits shaping their behaviour — and what step can you take to bring balance? Kinky share
