UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has phased off all COVID mandates in the UK
According to the prime minister, Students are no longer forced to wear masks in class as of Thursday.
Face masks will no more be necessary at any school or elsewhere in England from January 27, and vaccine passports will no longer be required for large events. Instead, the government will “recommend” facial coverings in enclosed areas, but people will be free to choose whether or not to wear them.
The government will also scrap the COVID pass requirement, meaning that people will no longer be required to provide proof of vaccination in order to attend public places.
“In the country at large, we will continue to suggest the use of face coverings in enclosed or crowded spaces, particularly when you come into contact with people you don’t normally meet, but we will trust the judgment of the British people and no longer criminalize anyone who chooses not to wear one,” Boris Johnson declared on Wednesday.
The government’s work-from-home requirement, which had been in force since December 13, was likewise revoked by the British prime minister. According to Johnson, England would begin treating Covid as like the flu.
“There will soon come a time when we can remove the legal requirement to self-isolate altogether, just as we don’t place legal obligations on people to isolate if they have flu,” Johnson said. “As Covid becomes endemic, we will need to replace legal requirements with advice and guidance, urging people with the virus to be careful and considerate of others.”
Government experts estimate that the spike of infections caused by the omicron variant “has now peaked nationally,” and that more than 90% of individuals over 60 in the UK have had at least three shots of the Covid vaccine or booster shot, according to the British prime minister.
And with that, the United Kingdom became freer than the United States.
