Motherhood: Spending Quality Time With Your Kid 9

Most of us wonder why time spent with our children is not yielding fruits. There is a big difference between spending quality time with your kid and just spending time with your kid. You can spend one hour with your child and there won’t be any connection between both of you. Whereas, you can spend just 15 minutes with your child and you will bond together. Quality time spent with your child must have a positive impact on your relationship with him/her.

Quality time with your kid entails you giving them total attention. It must be void of distractions from television, social media, etc. It is the time for you and your kid alone, to play and chat. Spending quality time with your kids makes them feel loved and secure and gives them confidence. It also minimizes sibling rivalry.

However, not spending time with our kids or giving them divided attention makes them feel unloved and frustrated. They feel that whatever is taking our attention is more important to us than them.

Kids tend to exhibit some signs when they feel unloved and frustrated. So, if you notice the following signs in your children, then you need to carefully plan and carve out quality time to spend with your children.

1)Your kid is unwilling to speak with you. If you don’t spend quality time with kids, who may take some time to open up, your chances of having effective communication with them are greatly reduced. Your kid will not be free to talk to you about what is happening in their life. When your children cannot freely talk to you about their friends, school, etc. Break in communication between you and your kid is very dangerous, as your child can be bullied and molested and you won’t be aware.

2)Your kid finds it difficult to make friends.

Your children learn how to interact with others for the first time in the family. They learn how to compromise, share, and take care of people there. If your child lacks social skills, it may be because they haven’t spent enough time practicing how to get along with others. If you don’t spend quality time with your kid, this may prevent your child from developing these interpersonal skills.

We will have more discussions on this in my next article.
