Drunk Man Shoots His Friend Over Disagreement In Adamawa

Wawe Nokomari, a drunk 45-year-old man, has been taken into custody by the Adamawa State Police Command for reportedly shooting his friend Ham Musa after a fight.

The incident took place in the Jabi hamlet within the Shelleng Local Government Area of the state on November 7, 2023.

The victim is alive and undergoing treatment, according to command spokesman SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who verified the event in a statement on Monday, November 13.

The PPRO claims that prior to shooting his companion while working on a rice farm, Wawe, a father of 8, drank sweeti, mafia, and a popular locally produced beer known as “burukutu.”

It was reported that a miscommunication transpired between the two drunk men, leading to the shooting incident.

According to the spokesperson, Wawe used a gun he had obtained from a vigilante to start shooting at Ham.

Afolabi Babatola, the Commissioner of Police, had, in the meantime, directed the Criminal Investigation Department to look into the situation.

According to SP Nguroje, the vigilante who had let the suspect use his gun was to be arrested by the CP.

He gave his word that the command would see to it that the accused was prosecuted after the investigation was finished.

“The suspect has confessed to the crime and expressed remorse for his actions. He also pledged to abstain from drinking alcohol in the future,” Nguroje added.
