American Actor Johnny Wactor, best known for his part in the popular television series General Hospital, died in hospital after being involved in a fatal shooting.
He was 37. The actor was fatally shot on May 25 in downtown Los Angeles while attempting to stop a group of criminals from tampering with his automobile, according to his mother.
According to NBC News, police received a complaint at 3:25 a.m. regarding a guy who was shot in the vicinity after coming across three males attempting to remove a catalytic converter from his vehicle, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson.
According to the spokesman, one of the suspects used a revolver to kill the victim, who was pronounced dead on the scene, and the three guys escaped in a car on an unknown route. No arrests have been made, and the investigation into the shooting is still underway.
The actor’s agent, David Shaul, also confirmed his death.
“Johnny Wactor was a spectacular human being,” Shaul said in a statement to Variety.
“Not just a talented actor who was committed to his craft but a real moral example to everyone who knew him. Standing for hard work, tenacity and a never give up attitude.”
“In the highs and lows of a challenging profession, he always kept his chin up and kept striving for the best he could be,” adding, “Our time with Johnny was a privilege we would wish on everyone. He would literally give you the shirt off his back. After over a decade together, he will leave a hole in our hearts forever.”
The actor, who is originally from Charleston, South Carolina, has been acting for almost 15 years.
Wactor made his Hollywood debut in 2007 as an actor in the series Army Wives. In 2013, he played Johnny, a South Carolina competitive bull rider, in the short-lived supernatural drama Siberia.
Wactor went on to feature on episodes like Hollywood Girl, Criminal Minds, NCIS, The OA, and Westworld, as well as the 2016 film USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage, starring Nicolas Cage and Tom Sizemore, who died last year at the age of 61.
He rose to prominence in 2020, when he made his General Hospital debut as Brando Corbin, a character he would reprise for over 160 episodes until 2022.
