BBNaija Equals “Semi Packaged Porn” And “A Social Monster”, Should Be Prohibited. – Ohanaeze Youth

The Ohanaeze youths are not the first to condemn the BBNaija Reality TV show as many other individuals and groups including government officials in the country have publicly come out to speak against NBC’s reality TV show.

Recently, A group affiliated with the Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, has petitioned the Federal Government to prohibit the reality show Big Brother Naija, calling it “semi-packaged porn” and a “social monster,” with its complaints similar to that of the Arewa youths.

Comrade Igboayaka O Igboayaka, National President of the OYC, on Tuesday said while speaking to Daily Post in Owerri, the Imo State capital, that BBNaija is seriously harming the sensitive moral training in families and schools.

Comrade Igboayaka stated that BBNaija lacks a moral foundation, particularly at a time when the youths have lost sight of social values and conventions.

“With the high rate of lack of moral values among teenagers in Nigeria, BBNaija is a social monster that has come to ruin the lives of Nigerian youths, mostly the teenagers who are easily carried away by social trends”, Igboayaka said.

“Majority of Nigerian youths are not mentally mature to be participating or watching such semi-packaged porn programs that add or proffers zero solution to the social problems confronting our youths.”

Comrade Igboayaka consequently encouraged the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, and also the National Orientation Agency, to provide a more appropriate youth program that will encourage value systems, standards, and intellectual development.

The Comrade added that “BBNaija does not represent any ethnic cultural status in Nigeria, nor does it appeal to any religious status domicile in Nigeria, but it presents and represents a wrong worldview about the reality of life to young and teenage Nigerians.”

He further stated that the show should not be broadcast since it encourages immorality and inappropriate content.
