BBNaija Star Alex Unusual Reacts To Nnamdi Kanu’s Sentencing

BBNaija star Alex Unusual has expressed her thoughts on the recent sentencing of Nnamdi Kanu. She described the verdict as deeply unfair, highlighting her concerns about the judicial process and the implications for justice in the case.

She wrote;

Dear Mr. President @officialasiwajubat
I’m addressing this to you directly not because I’m unaware of our judiciary but because, quite frankly, I don’t feel like anyone listens, and the system doesn’t appear to work.

This verdict is deeply unfair.

To be clear: I am not claiming that Nnamdi Kanu is entirely innocent. But does he deserve a life sentence?

In this case, the lines between what is morally right and what is legally right seem blurred and in all honesty, I see a fundamental injustice. I am no legal practitioner, journalist, or researcher, I offer no fancy statistics, analytics, or data. I’m speaking simply as a citizen who’s watched our justice system fall short too many times.

Time and again, justice in Nigeria is dispensed not as deserved, but as convenient. Instances ?, Sunday Jackson, was sentenced to death after defending himself, Terrorists receive pardons or “rehabilitation”, Bandits operate with impunity, often negotiating with the state, Corrupt officials dip into public funds, earn, siphon and spit in our faces with little accountability and no serious court trials if any at all.

Yet, in Kanu’s case with all its complexity and historical weight, he is given life imprisonment.

I’m not comparing crimes or calling on any ethnic group to rise up as this is not a cultural war and I won’t be party to any. I’m saying that this feels like selective justice from the judicial system. I don’t speak as an Igbo person but as a deeply troubled Nigerian. I worry that fear has silenced too many voices, cats have cut a lot of tongues.

Strategically, this outcome is damaging not just for Nnamdi Kanu , but for the moral credibility of the government. Do they care? I don’t think so.
But of course, those in power tend to often shape reality to serve themselves when they want.

I will not be quiet. I felt powerless yesterday, my silence cost me sleep but not again today.

God help us all.

To my dear friend, friends /family that might message after this, please let us not fight this morning. I have a long day and I’ll rather we don’t stay mad at each other. Thanks.
