Ray Emodi, a well-known actor from Nigeria, has declared that he will stop doing movie roles in order to focus entirely on his musical career.
On Instagram, the actor announced the news and clarified that fans frequently inquire about why he isn’t on screen. As he thought back on his years in the movie business, Emodi recalled how some of his jobs required him to work in dangerous settings, such as places where gunshots could be heard nearby.
He said: “I’ve stopped acting films. I quit. I get this question a lot. People in comments, people that I meet, they ask me: ‘Your films, your films.’
“I shot a film in a town that I won’t mention, but we were literally hearing gunshots… a situation where something was going on in a town next to our town in West Michigan. My family doesn’t support this… I respect that decision, and I won’t do anything that would bring any stain to the name.
“You don’t see me with backloads. The backy is not full of Loud. It’s a prop. I’m acting in the music. I’ve had some of the best experiences of my life on sets… it’s not easy to say no when they call your phone to come back on set, but I had to stop saying yes.
“I love music, man. I’ve always loved music, and I make good music. I love every single Nollywood fan… I’m not leaving you. I’m just going to make music for the dance floor.”
Live with Purpose, Love with Passion. Remember to be happy
