Bimbo Thomas Discusses Her Break From The Spotlight

Bimbo Thomas, a Nollywood actress, has disclosed the reason behind her acting hiatus.

She appeared on a recent Old Secret podcast episode. She said that following the release of her breakthrough movie “Omo Ghetto,” studios were attempting to typecast her into “ghetto roles.”

She confessed that she felt constrained to playing a certain kind of character because so many producers were contacting her for projects that were similar.

She said, “After the Omo ghetto film, I did another one, and more producers kept reaching out to me for ghetto roles.

I felt they wanted to box me, they wanted to put me in a corner”.

Bimbo emphasised her versatility as an actress, showcasing her ability to switch between different roles and accents.

“One minute I’m speaking phonetically, the next I do ghetto and so on”, she said.

Despite her success in Pidgin English films, she clarified that it’s not her natural speech, stating, “I wasn’t born in the barracks, so pidgin isn’t my thing”.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
