Brazilian President; Bolsonaro Rushed To Hospital With Intestinal Blockage

One of the most heartbreaking situations is to see the loved one suffering in poor health. Brazilian President; Jair Bolsonaro was rushed to the hospital early Monday morning for treatment of a possible stomach obstruction after experiencing discomfort while on vacation in the southern state of Santa Catarina, according to local media.

He was admitted to Vila Nova Star hospital, where he was undergoing exams under the care of Dr. Antônio Luiz Macedo, the surgeon who treated Mr. Bolsonaro after he was stabbed in 2018 while campaigning for president.

Mr. Bolsonaro is in stable condition, the hospital said, adding that five doctors were overseeing his care.

In a post on Twitter, Mr. Bolsonaro said he “started feeling poorly after lunch on Sunday.” After arriving at the hospital at 3 a.m., he wrote, he was administered a nasogastric tube, which can be used to drain fluid from the stomach of a patient with intestinal obstruction. The president, who included a photo from the hospital in the tweet, said that more exams would be conducted to determine whether surgery was necessary.

Neither the presidential press service nor the hospital has yet responded to requests for information by AFP. In July, Bolsonaro spent four days receiving treatment for an intestinal obstruction.

Since a knife attack that targeted him during a 2018 election campaign, in which he was stabbed in the stomach, he has undergone abdominal surgery at least four times. About a month before he was elected president, Bolsonaro was stabbed at a campaign rally by a man who was found to be psychologically unfit for trial.

Doctor Antonio Luiz Macedo, who has operated on Bolsonaro on several occasions, said on Twitter that he would arrive at 3 p.m. The doctor told the news site UOL that it was too early to tell whether the president’s condition was serious. He said he could be experiencing an intestinal obstruction for something as common as not chewing his food properly.

He also announced that the president would undergo several tests to examine his abdomen.

Good wishes for a speedy recovery for President Jair Bolsonaro.

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
